Intermittent Hypoxic Training (IHT):

Hypo: reduced, lack
Oxy: relating to Oxygen
Definition: Breathing air with reduced oxygen content (high altitude) resulting in beneficial effects on athletic performance and general health.
Intermittent: cycling between hypoxic and normal air that magnifies the efficiency of hypoxic training.

Protocol

The difference between the method that the GO2Altitude® system uses and the other leading competitors' method is best described by the word intermittent. Intermittent Hypoxic Training is a process by which the subject is exposed to a cyclic array of both diminished oxygen air and normal atmospheric air. The adjustment that the body has to make as the input air changes is what affects a greater physiological response. Our competitors are convinced that the way to maximise their patient's performance is to persuade them to sleep or train in a confined space. The Go2Altitude ® system on the other hand only requires the person to sit comfortably for about an hour breathing a set program of normal and hypoxic air.

Seriously thinking to SLEEP in a tent? THINK AGAIN. CLICK HERE TO READ AN INDEPENDENT REPORT ON SLEEP SYSTEM. Simply speaking: sleep deprivation and inability to have night-time recovery out weights all claimed benefits of hypoxic sleep. If you are tired and not recovered in the morning you can not function properly!

The Go2Altitude ® regime utilises the important discovery of the increased benefits (physiological effects) experienced when transitions are made regularly between reduced oxygen conditions and ambient air. Most altitude simulators that are currently available place the subject in a low oxygen concentration environment for an extended period of time, such as an eight-hour sleeping period.

It has become clear that the greatest effect on performance improvement is not dependant on the time spent at altitude, either at rest or training, but more directly related to the number of transitions from LOW to HIGH and back. Go2Altitude ® recognises this and provides a specific regime of use to maximise the benefit.

Go2Altitude® employs:

Patented maintenance-free hypoxicator.
Microprocessor control of the training session.
Built-in pulsoximeters, providing biological feedback and optimising training for the individual.
The latest protocols developed by the leaders in IHT research.
PC software to visualise your response and keep the history of your IHT sessions.

AT LAST! You too can enjoy the full range of benefits that are the direct result of intermittent hypoxic training (IHT). Used only by elite athletes and cosmonauts in the past and now available to you, GO2Altitude® uses revolutionary methods in hypoxic treatment. IHT is the drug free alternative for boosting your athletic performance.

This web site has been constructed to allow you to understand the fundamental differences between intermittent hypoxic training and the other hypoxic stimulation methods. You will see for yourself how GO2Altitude®'s IHT regime will benefit you more than other methods of altitude simulation.

GO2Altitude® is better because we have realised that the best results come from higher altitudes but for shorter periods. The work your body has to do to adjust to multiple changes in altitude over an hour is more beneficial than the work your body has to do to survive in a low oxygen environment overnight.

Does Interval Hypoxic Training affect the lung function of asthmatic athletes?

Charlotte C Harrison, Jenny M Fleming, Lynn C Gilles
(New Zealand Journal of Sports Medicine. Vol.30 , No.3., 2002)

Results:
This study demonstrated a statistically significant increase, (p=.012) in FVC after IHT in both asthmatic and non-asthmatic participants. Some asthmatics showed an improvement in symptoms and a reduction in medication use.

Simply speaking: sleep deprivation and inability to have night-time recovery out-weighs all the claimed benefits of hypoxic sleep. If you are exhausted in the morning you are not able to use the advantages that you acquired overnight!
